PHASE Nepal is currently implementing health, education, livelihoods, research, and independent living projects across various rural communities in Nepal. We are seeking applications from qualified candidates for the following position:
Position: Agriculture Technician
- Duty Station: Barekot Rural Municipality, Jajarkot, Nepal
- Qualification: Minimum I.Sc. Ag. (Plant Science)
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in awareness-raising, capacity-building, and providing practical support to local farmers in adopting climate-resilient agricultural techniques.
- Total Gross Salary: NRs. 45,000 per month
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify vulnerable individuals and families in coordination with the local government.
- Assess material and equipment needs for home gardens and vegetable production.
- Prepare and manage a detailed inventory of required materials, equipment, and seeds.
- Conduct training sessions on climate-smart agriculture, organic farming, biopesticide production, and seed production.
- Provide technical guidance on climate-smart agricultural techniques and vegetable production.
- Distribute seeds, materials, and equipment, maintaining accurate records.
- Monitor beneficiaries throughout the production cycle to assess progress and challenges.
- Maintain clear and up-to-date records of beneficiaries, training sessions, and distributions.
- Facilitate regular community meetings and mobilization for livelihood activities.
- Coordinate closely with local government and community stakeholders.
- Support monitoring visits from local authorities, donors, and PHASE Nepal management.
- Collect, compile, and report project data to the line manager.
- Prepare reports, updates, and success stories as required.
- Participate in PHASE Nepal’s training and organizational activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the project manager.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of climate-smart agriculture, seasonal and off-season vegetable cultivation, and farmer training.
- Good IT skills for record-keeping and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills to foster a positive work environment.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and commitment to working with vulnerable populations in remote areas.
- Strong analytical, observation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Benefits:
- Medical Insurance: Coverage of up to NRs. 225,000 for the employee and two dependent family members.
- Accidental Insurance: Coverage of NRs. 2,000,000 for the staff member.
- Travel & Accommodation: Reimbursement of actual travel and accommodation costs, with daily subsistence allowance as per organizational policies.
